Hello to You II: Self-advocates Speak Out on Employment

With a focus on self-advocates, this section will tackle major issues affecting people with disabilities and their families. Currently, we are looking at employment. Below we highlight some self-advocates who are on various career paths. Click on the videos below to get their thoughts on having a job and the importance of working.

Our contributors are Adonis Brown and Lisa Byrd, both of Durham and both members of the North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilities. Adonis Brown is a consultant who has worked a number of jobs through the years. Lisa Byrd is an outspoken person who works at Arby's. Both individuals stress the importance of determination and persistence, and believing in one's abilities.
