Virtual Road Tour silNCCDD is launching its Five-Year State Plan planning process to gather input from the disability community to formulate its goals for the next five years – 2022-2026 (October 1, 2021-September 30, 2026).

The Council's goals for the Five-Year State Plan will be drafted from input received from leaders in the disability community, people with intellectual or other developmental disabilities (I/DD), their families and supporters. The planning process will begin in May 2020 through the Conversations with The Council - Virtual Road Tour, where the Council will host virtual listening sessions across the state; and releasing an online survey for the state's disability community. Conversations with the Council - Virtual Road Tour

The NCCDD staff and Council members are hitting the road! Virtually, that is! While current circumstances don't allow us to meet in person, we still want to "meet" and listen to individuals with I/DD, parents, relatives, caretakers and other stakeholders about what is working for the disability community; what needs to change; and, how could it be changed?

We will be hosting two virtual sessions per region of North Carolina between May 11 and June 1, 2020. Check out when the session will be for your region and register for a time that works for your schedule.

What is the Five-Year State Plan?

NC Region MapEvery five years, the North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilities develops a State Plan that reflects a comprehensive review of major service systems and issues in North Carolina.

It outlines goals, objectives and specific activities that will be implemented to bring about change. The State Plan guides the Council regarding how staff and fiscal resources are allocated. The Council's State Plan is developed in accordance with the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 (DD Act).

The current Five-Year State Plan (2017-2021) was adopted by the 40-member Council and approved by the Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AIDD). Implementation began on October 1, 2016.
